KINGSCOTE PARISH COUNCIL

Job Title: Clerk to the Parish Council

Job Description: Parish Council clerk, who will be the Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer of the Parish Council. 

Key Duties:  

  • attending and supporting the 5 Parish Councillors at meetings, normally held 5 times a year at Kingscote Village Hall (GL8 8XY)
  • preparing meeting agendas and minutes and statutory returns 
  • following up and actioning Parish Council resolutions 
  • dealing with incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • administering bank account (on-line and debit card), including payments & receipts
  • preparing budgets, annual accounts, and precept application
  • maintaining records and key documentation.

Remuneration: Salary in the range £2200 to £2500 per annum depending upon experience.

Hours per month: Approximately 16.

Place of work: Work from home but attend all Parish Council meetings and the Annual Parish Meeting.

Number of meetings per year: Five fixed meetings, plus occasional extraordinary meetings as required.

Skills and experience required:

  • Thorough and up to date knowledge and understanding of local government law and the legal and financial frameworks and procedures relating to local council (or the potential and willingness to learn). 
  • Previous experience within local government or council administration is desirable.
