Waste Collection – Update

Release date: 11 January 2017

Waste and recycling collections might be affected by adverse weather tomorrow

The latest update from the Met Office indicates that kerbside waste and recycling collections in Cotswold District might be affected by adverse winter weather tomorrow (Thursday 12 January).

Nevertheless, residents should present their waste and recycling for collection as usual tomorrow (by 7 am at the latest) and the Ubico crews will aim to collect wherever possible.  If Ubico cannot carry out collections, residents should leave the waste and recycling at the kerbside and it will be picked up as soon as practicable.

The crews are still working in line with the revised Christmas/New Year timetable and will resume normal collections on Monday 16 January. This means that the arrangements until then are as follows:

Normal collections due on Wednesday 11 January will be made on Thursday 12 January

Normal collections due on Thursday 12 January will be made on Friday 13 January

Normal collections due on Friday 13 January will be made on Saturday 14 January.

As the crews are already out on Saturday, there may be scope for them to collect from any properties which might be missed due to adverse weather.

Commenting on the situation, Cllr Sue Coakley, CDC’s Cabinet Member for Environment, said:

“We always try to keep disruption to a minimum, as we know any delays in collections can be very frustrating for residents. However, the Council has to consider the health and safety of the Ubico crews – and the public – when assessing whether they can make collections.  We will issue further bulletins if the weather deteriorates and we will also provide information via our website www.cotswold.gov.uk , the media, and social media.”

Any queries regarding the Council’s waste and recycling services should be referred to the CDC Waste Hotline on 01285 623123.
